Event Details

What: Proposed Continuing Education Requirements for Professional Engineers in California

Please come join your fellow Capital Branch members and attend this very interesting topic in which Continuing Education may become a requirement to retain your professional license in California. 

Recently, ASCE Region 9 Board of Governors has been debating the merits of requiring continuing education for re-licensing for civil engineering professionals.   Some believe the idea has value and merit, and there are some with a voice of opposition to this concept throughout our civil engineering community.  Come join in this discussion and debate. 

Joan Al-Kazily, past Region 9 Governor and Chair of the Continuing Education Committee, and Pat Tami, Board Member of the California Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and geologists will discuss the proposed legislation and the points/counterpoints.

The meeting will be a town hall format, with ample opportunity for discussion, debate, and voicing of opinions.  The meeting will be moderated by Fareed Pittalwala, Sacramento Section Past President and currently the Region 9 Governor for Sacramento Section.
